❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How much water should my dog drink per day?
A general rule: dogs need about 60 ml of water per kg of body weight per day. A 25 kg dog needs roughly 1,500 ml (about 6 cups). Active dogs, hot weather, and dry food diets all increase water needs. Our calculator adjusts for these factors to give a personalized recommendation.
My cat doesn't drink much water — should I worry?
Cats naturally have a low thirst drive because they evolved from desert ancestors. If your cat eats dry food only, they may not get enough water. Try a pet water fountain — many cats prefer moving water. Switching to wet food or mixing in water can also boost hydration. Shop cat water fountains →
Does wet food count as water intake?
Yes! Wet food contains about 70–80% water, while dry food has only 10%. If your pet eats wet food, they get a significant portion of their hydration from meals. Our calculator shows how much water comes from food vs. how much your pet should actually drink.
What if my pet drinks too much water?
Excessive thirst (polydipsia) can be a sign of health issues like kidney disease, diabetes, or Cushing's disease in dogs. If your pet is consistently drinking much more than the recommended amount, consult your veterinarian for a check-up.
